Mixamo Updates Collada 1.4.1 Importer for Blender, Adds MacOSX Support

(from Blendernation...)

Back in August, I covered the announcement from Mixamo, the online character animation service, regarding their support of Blender, using a Collada 1.4.1 import-based workflow. They recently followed up with me with the news that they have recently updated this Collada 1.4.1 importer for Blender 2.49b and are now hosting it on their Mixamo website, freely available to the Blender community.

The improvements they have added to this importer make the Mixamo/Blender workflow much more robust – here are the highlights to this new update:

  • MacOSX Now Supported – MacOSX 10.5 and 10.6 users can now import Collada 1.4.1 files into their Blender projects using this updated importer from Mixamo. (Win32 version already supported)
  • Faster Performance – Import is much faster now.
  • Improved User Interface – Better user messaging and a polished interface.
  • Easier Setup/Installation – More robust handling of script location & better readme documentation provided.
You can download the updated Collada 1.4.1 Importer for Windows and Mac from the Mixamo website, here:
