It's Monday and it's pretty cold. In order to warm up, rub today's Daily against your extremities until blood flow returns.

Looks like Duke Nukem Forever has a multiplayer mode where you capture women and then occasionally slap them on the rear when they get hysterical. I have no words.

I totally missed out on Atom Zombie Smasher even after Steam shoved it in my face, but it looks like from this video I was amiss in doing so. Now if only I could dig myself out from under the hordes of Square RPGs that keep getting re-released on PSN, I might get a chance at making a dent in my games-to-play pile.

But wait, there's more! (hint: click Read More)

Japanese semi-indie developers Miracle Kidz are making a sequel to River City Ransom, which I am hoping will feature prodigious amounts of "BARF!" Next they need to make a crossover between RCR and Streets of Rage and get Yuzo Koshiro to make the game music, and I'm onboard.

I loved Stacking and I'm glad it's going to get a DLC expansion. It's going to be so awesome.

I kind of regret actually having to pay money for rent and food and the like, because I want this Minecraft box piggy bank. It's yours if you donate $500 or more to the development of a Minecraft documentary; you also get a wind-up creeper (SSSSSSS!) and some other cool stuff.

Looks like Rare was working on another Perfect Dark game after Perfect Dark Zero, and someone uncovered the concept art and test animations from the cancelled game. I just want an entire game that's like the Chicago mission in Perfect Dark, Rare. Why can't you do that for me?

3DS games may cost more than DS games (and a lot more than cellphone games) but the head of the 3DS project seems OK with the price increase. It's okay that the games are more expensive, since the launch titles are so disappointing that pre-orders might not have any actual games to play on it for a few weeks outside of the Tom Clancy game developed by one of the creators of X-Com.

Speaking of cellphone games, if you're an Android developer you'll be happy to know that you will now have more access to statistics about how your application is sold and used through the Market. I can't wait to finish my Android roguelike so I can post it up there.

How do you know you're a successful game developer? When your new releases cut into your old releases' player base. Blizzard has this problem, though I imagine they're not too torn up about it.

Before you return to your normal life, you are probably going to want to look at this neat new queue area for the Haunted Mansion at Disney World. Seems like game developers are more likely than ever to be hired as an Imagineer.

We haven't had a Daily since Monday, so this one is going up a little early! I hope everyone missed me oh-so-dearly the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago I was busy with GDC stuff and last week was my birthday! I'm older now, for your information.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment signed a "long-term, studio-wide licensing deal" with Epic to use Unreal Engine 3 in upcoming releases from the publisher. This includes games like Batman: Arkham City and the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot. So, that's news, I suppose. You just have to love to hear about the little middleware companies making a big deal like that; it's gotta help the little fellas out to finally get some business.

In news that makes me incredibly happy, Square-Enix and Level 5's Dragon Quest IX: Sentinal of the Starry Skies, released last summer for the Nintendo DS, has shipped 5.3 million units worldwide. This makes this entry in the long-running series the best selling Dragon Quest game ever. And this is particular notable given how different Dragon Quest IX is from other games in the series. Dragon Quest IX is also totally and completely excellent.

Speaking of Square-Enix, it looks like they're looking to setup a second Canadian studio. The new studio would join the Square-Enix-owned Eidos Montreal, who is currently finishing up work on Deus Ex: Human Revolution (due for an August release). According to source Gamasutra, "[t]he publisher is looking to make use of the Canadian tax credits, along with government subsidies from wherever it decides to set up its second studio." Other regions which are interesting in playing host to Square-Enix's new studio include North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Valve hired famous game designer Doug Church this week (well, the news broke this week; Church has apparently been with the company for a few weeks now), which increases the powerhouse of incredible talent that the company has built up over the years. Church is particularly known for his role in the design and development of game series like Thief, Ultima, and System Shock. It is unknown what project(s) Church is involved with at Valve at the moment.

And I'd like to end with one of the best things you're likely to see all week: Dino D-Day. Pre-orders are open now on Steam. It looks amazing. AMAZING.

Hopefully everyone reading this is involved in some seriously amazing gaming this weekend. My PSP is home to all of my attention right now, as I engage in superb games like Tactics Ogre, Vagrant Story, Gods Eater Burst, and, currently, Parasite Eve. So good.
